Eddy current flaw detectors. The principle of operation of this type of flaw detectors is based on the method, which consists in the excitation of eddy currents in the local control zone with subsequent registration of changes in the electromagnetic field. These changes are due to the presence of defects in the objects of control made of metal. Such a method is widely used today to detect surface and near-surface defects, in particular, to control bolt holes and when sorting alloys.
Ferritometers/conductivity meters are expert tools for solving various problems of the eddy current (electromagnetic induction) control method, depending on the converter connected to it. The instruments are intended for use as: magnetic induction ferritometers for measuring the ferritic phase content in austenitic and perlite steel products, conductivity meters for determining the specific electrical conductivity of various non-ferrous metals and their alloys, thickness gauges for measuring the thickness of protective and decorative coatings applied to conductive material.
